This Privacy Policy explains how Prolific, provided by Prolific Intelligent Solutions ("Prolific", "we", "us", or "our"), collects, uses, and protects information when Instagram business owners use our software-as-a-service platform (the "Service").
By using Prolific or connecting your Instagram account to our Service, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

2. What Prolific does
Prolific is an AI-powered Instagram chatbot SaaS for Instagram business accounts. It:
- Reads Instagram messages, comments and basic account information.
- Uses AI agents to generate automated DM replies.
- Can interact with Shopify and courier services (where applicable) to answer customer queries about orders, shipping, etc.
3. Information we collect
We collect and process the following categories of information:
3.1 Instagram data
When you connect your Instagram Business account to Prolific, we receive data via the official Instagram / Meta APIs, such as:
Account information:
Account ID, username, profile name, profile picture, page ID, and related business information.
Messages & DMs:
Incoming and outgoing direct messages between your Instagram account and your audience.
Comments & related interactions:
Comments on your posts and our replies on your behalf (if enabled).
We only access the permissions you grant to us when you connect your account.
3.2 Data from integrations (e.g., Shopify, couriers)
If you connect other services (such as Shopify or courier providers) to Prolific, we may receive:
- Basic order information (order ID, products, shipping status, etc.).
- Basic customer information associated with orders (e.g., name, contact info) as allowed by that integration.
We use this data only to answer your customers' questions and automate support.
3.3 Account & usage information
When you sign up and use Prolific, we may collect:
Account data:
Name, email address, password (stored in hashed form), and business details you provide.
Subscription & billing context:
Plan type and billing status. Actual payment card details are handled by our third-party payment processor (once chosen) and are not stored by us.
Technical & usage data (typical for SaaS apps):
IP address, device/browser type, timestamps, and logs related to how you use the Service. Error logs and performance data to keep the Service secure and reliable.
We do not currently use third-party analytics tools like Google Analytics or Meta Pixel, but we may introduce them in the future with an updated Policy.
4. How we use your information
We use the information above to:
- Provide and operate the Service, including: Reading your Instagram DMs/comments and replying through our AI agent. Fetching and updating order/courier information when you connect Shopify or couriers.
- Authenticate and manage your account, including login, access control, and subscription management.
- Customize and improve your experience, such as configuring reply flows and behavior.
- Maintain security, including fraud detection, abuse prevention, and protecting accounts.
- Communicate with you, including service notifications, important updates, and support responses.
- Comply with legal obligations, such as responding to lawful requests from authorities where required.
We do not use your business's Instagram data to train our own models beyond what is necessary to provide the Service, and we do not sell your data.
5. AI providers and message processing
To generate replies and power the chatbot, Prolific uses third-party AI providers, including:
- OpenAI (ChatGPT)
- Google (Gemini)
- Qwen (Alibaba / Qwen provider)
When your Instagram conversations are processed by the chatbot, relevant parts of messages, comments, and/or order data may be sent to these providers as prompts. This is necessary for the Service to function.
We take reasonable steps to:
- Limit the data sent to what is necessary for generating a response.
- Use reputable AI providers with appropriate security practices.
- Ensure providers use data only to deliver the AI service to us, according to their terms.
Each AI provider processes data under its own privacy policy and terms. By using Prolific, you consent to this processing.
6. Legal bases (if you are in the EEA/UK)
Where EU/UK data protection law (e.g., GDPR) applies, we process personal data based on:
- Contract: To provide the Service you requested and perform our agreement with you.
- Legitimate interests: To secure, maintain, and improve Prolific, and to support your use of the Service.
- Legal obligations: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, and requests from authorities.
7. Data retention
Instagram messages, comments, and related metadata are stored for as long as the business owner specifies.
By default, we may store conversation history for as long as your account is active, unless you instruct us otherwise or configure a specific retention period (where available in settings).
We may retain certain logs and records for a longer period where required for:
- Legal or regulatory reasons.
- Security, fraud prevention, or dispute resolution.
When you ask us to delete certain data, we will act within a reasonable time, subject to any legal obligations to keep some records.
8. Data sharing & third parties
We do not sell your personal data and we do not share your data for advertising purposes.
We may share data with:
- AI providers (OpenAI, Google Gemini, Qwen) for message processing.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers that run our servers, databases, and storage.
- Payment processors (once chosen) to handle subscription payments.
- Professional service providers (e.g., legal or accounting) where necessary.
In all cases, we share only what is needed for the relevant service and expect those parties to protect the data.
We may also disclose information if required by law, government request, or court order, or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
9. International data transfers
Because our partners and servers may be located in different countries, your data may be processed outside of Egypt and your country of residence. Where required by law, we will take steps to ensure an appropriate level of protection for such transfers (for example, using contractual safeguards with service providers).

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, such as:
- Encrypted connections (HTTPS) where applicable.
- Access controls and authentication.
- Secure storage of credentials (e.g., passwords hashed, tokens handled securely).

Our Service relies on third-party platforms such as Instagram, Shopify, courier APIs, and AI providers. Their use of data is governed by their own terms and policies.
Prolific is not affiliated with or endorsed by Instagram, Meta, Shopify, or any courier company. You are responsible for complying with their terms in addition to ours.
14. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email, in-app notice, or other reasonable means. Your continued use of Prolific after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
